Kinetic NRG is a renewable energy company that is an innovator in the design and application of hydrokinetic technology. Kinetic NRG is targeting the un-tapped kinetic energy of water in water networks including urban, agriculture and industrial water pipelines, and natural water flows in rivers, tidal and ocean currents to generate electricity.

We have designed a unique Hydrokinetic Turbine capable of producing power from 10kW to 100kW, with the potential to upscale technology to meet industrial demand. Kinetic NRG’s vision is to grow into a diversified hydro generation company that is involved in each stage of the hydro energy supply chain.

Headquartered on the Gold Coast, we seek to be a global organisation and will adopt a range of commercialization and market deployment strategies that reflect the investment preferences and optimal channel to market for each end market and technology type. At the core of Kinetic NRG is a technology innovation and development expertise, focused on developing hydrokinetic power technology that creates generation opportunities in previously untapped markets and sectors, such as tidal rivers, urban and agricultural water networks.

Kinetic NRG will prioritize technology development and market target sectors that are likely to be commercially viable in the short term.

Target sectors include:

• Hydroscheme channels and dams
• Pontoon style Tidal Energy Generators (TEG) for business and industrial complexes on tidal or river flows,
• Remote and island communities relying on diesel generators,
• Water networks eg. water treatment plants outfall pipelines

The Kinetic NRG Group is focused on leveraging existing hydro power plants to generate immediate Base Load energy.

Kinetic NRG as a hydrokinetic project developer utilising either floating, fixed, portable modular units that could be placed in the tail race canal flows of existing hydro power plants. By leveraging existing infrastructure, Kinetic NRG’s goal is to focus on the substantial amount of energy potential located in the tail race canals. These projects would not involve any further environmental impact; the reservoir and canals have already been formed and hydro power plant sites have an existing grid connection, access roads and security fencing, thus minimising our project costs.

The Kinetic NRG Hydrokinetic Energy Generator (HEG) for rivers and canals allow for the introduction of a base load supply, providing a complete renewable energy solution for the most cost-effective system possible. This proprietary technology is standardised and easily scalable. Although qualifying as “green”, these products are positioned as the best alternative for decentralised electrification along rivers and canals.

The HEG was developed to produce a maximum amount of electrical power with the kinetic energy of flowing waters. Because it is powered by kinetic energy instead of potential energy, it is known as a so-called “zero-head” or “incurrent” turbine system. As such no head differential is necessary for the operation of the HEG; the course of a river or canal remains in its natural state and no high investments in infrastructure are required. Because the amount of kinetic energy (velocity) varies from site to site, a greater amount of energy is generated with a higher velocity of water flow.
